One of the most breathtaking routes in the province of Tyrol is the High Alpine Road (Hochalpenstrasse) across Timmelsjoch. The road winds through the Ötztal Alps giving magnificent views of North and South Tyrol – it is enough to make any visitor’s heart miss a beat. |

Please note: Road traffic regulations for the Italian side of the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road:
Under the current Italian road traffic regulations, the following points must be observed when driving on the Italian section of the High Alpine Road ...
- Only cars and motorcycles are permitted.
- Caravans and lorries up to 8 tonnes max. total weight, 2.55 m max. width and 4 m max. height are allowed.
- Buses up to a max. 10 m in overall length are allowed.
- Lorries over 8 tonnes in total weight and all types of trailers are prohibited.
- Buses over 10 m in overall length are prohibited.
Access via the Austrian side is unrestricted up to the summit.

The toll rates above apply for the Austrian and Italian sections of Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road. The return journey of the ticket is valid for the entire season and not just for the same day. |

Discounts for one-way motorcycle journeys via Timmelsjoch are available in advance from many ADAC (AA) outlets as well as the ADAC website.
Ötztal Card: Holders of the Ötztal Card can travel along the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road using the local bus service free of charge.
